Filmed on the North Fork of Long Island, To God’s Ear, an independent film by veteran director/writer Stan Schofield, follows the unlikely friendship of two teen girls facing trauma and grief as they find trust and the healing power of caring for a special horse.

While scouting horse farms for the story, a beautiful chestnut mare made her presence known. Before we knew it Briar (Bella) auditioned herself for the role—playfully and gently nudging and engaging with Stan and his producer Roz . We had already assembled a great group of actors and immediately knew we had found, in Briar, the one missing cast member to bring this film about the healing power of animals to life.

The film is a story of love and resilience about two broken, grieving families in search of redemption. As the story unfolds, it explores the unique relationship between humans and horses through the lens of connection, healing  and mutual trust. Stan and his team hope to bring attention to the impact of trauma on teens and the healing power of equine therapy.

Filmed on location the film is cinematically quiet and intimate. Director Stan Schofield lets the scenes breathe, mirroring the slow, deliberate work of a majestic horse and a broken human heart.

In addition to this film Stan Schofield has directed and produced several feature films, AFI Best First Feature winner, Cost of Living and Long Island Film Festival Best Picture and Director winner, Parting Words. He has worked with a host of celebrities, athletes and political figures and won every major award in the television commercial industry including the Golden Lion at the Cannes Film Festival.
